Seminar held to raise awareness against gender-based violence in Nawabshah

Hyderabad: Women Development Department Shaheed Benazirabad, in collaboration with the Social Welfare and Education departments, organized an awareness seminar on gender-based violence (GBV) at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Court Road, Nawabshah.



The seminar aimed to raise awareness about preventing violence against women, protecting their rights and promoting social consciousness regarding the issue.



Speakers highlighted different forms of gender-based violence and its social consequences, stressing the need for effective measures at both governmental and societal levels to address the issue.



Deputy Director Women Development Naseem Hassan Mastoi, Director Social Welfare Ghulam Muhammad Sahito, District Education Officer Secondary Humsira Mir, Deputy Director Women Complaint Cell Zaib-un-Nisa, Assistant Director Social Welfare Fauzia Hassan Mastoi, DSP Hamza Usman and Child Protection Officer Zulfiqar Rind addressed the seminar.



They emphasized that ensuring a safe, dignified and equal environment for women was a collective responsibility. They also stressed the importance of discouraging violence and providing timely guidance and support to affected women.



Participants were informed about mechanisms for reporting violence, approaching relevant institutions and accessing legal and social support.



The speakers reaffirmed their commitment to promoting the message ‘Say No to Gender-Based Violence’ and continuing awareness activities aimed at protecting women’s rights and promoting their empowerment.



Deputy Director Social Welfare Manzoor Ahmed Mallah, DSP Legal Nawaz Ali, CEO Naseem Dahri, representatives of the Women Development and Social Welfare departments, District Child Protection Unit, civil society, teachers and a large number of students attended the seminar.
