Lahore: Leaders of the Pakistan Markazi Muslim League (PMML) on Friday condemned the reported Houthi attack on a power distribution station in Madinah, terming it a matter of serious concern and stressing that the Muslim world remained committed to the protection of the Two Holy Mosques.
In a joint statement, PMML President Khalid Masood Sindhu, Secretary General Saifullah Kasuri, Vice Presidents Hafiz Talha Saeed and Hafiz Abdul Rauf, Joint Secretary Muhammad Yaqoob Sheikh, Central Spokesman Dr Muzamil Iqbal Hashmi, Khidmat-i-Khalq Chairman Chaudhry Shafiq-ur-Rehman Waraich, Muslim Youth League President Tabish Qayyum and Muslim Students League President Umar Abbas said the reported attack on civilian infrastructure supplying electricity to the Prophet’s Mosque was deeply concerning.
The PMML leaders said the sanctity and security of Madinah could not be compromised. They expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia and said the Pakistani people supported efforts to protect the Two Holy Mosques.
They called for unity among Muslim countries to prevent attacks on sacred sites and ensure the protection of worshippers and pilgrims.
The leaders said protection of the Haramain Sharifain was a shared concern of Muslims and urged the international community to oppose attacks on civilian infrastructure and religious sites.
