Bahawalpur: Police traced and recovered 97 lost and stolen mobile phones worth millions of rupees through the Police Information Technology Lab during the month of September 2026.
According to a spokesperson on Sunday, the recovered mobile handsets were handed back to their original owners following verification procedures.
The recoveries were made possible through the effective utilization of the E-Gadget Application, which has proven to be a vital digital tool for the Punjab Police in tracking down stolen, lost, and snatched cellular phones across the district.
Police officials explained that the application enables mobile phone dealers to verify whether a handset brought for sale is reported stolen or linked to any criminal activity before purchasing it.
Dealers have been directed to immediately notify the nearest police station if any suspicious or stolen device is brought to their shops for prompt legal action.
