Karachi: Secretary Sindh College Education Nadeem-ur-Rehman Memon chaired a meeting to review progress on development schemes of the College Education Department.
The meeting reviewed ongoing development schemes across the province, schemes nearing completion, PC-IV status, projects declared unsatisfactory by the Monitoring and Evaluation Committee (MEC), and schemes under revision, said a statement on Thursday.
Chief Engineer Muhammad Saleem Shaikh, Director Planning Sajjad Abro, Deputy Director Saeed Abro and all concerned executive engineers and officers attended the meeting.
Nadeem Memon directed that all development schemes facing delays be expedited and completed within the stipulated timeframe.
He also directed the chief engineer to conduct immediate field visits to unsatisfactory schemes and submit reports on their actual status.
The meeting decided to have all schemes declared unsatisfactory by the MEC re-examined, resolve the issues at the earliest and issue online letters to the concerned executive engineers, director planning and monitoring officials in this regard.
The Secretary directed that all Limited to Be Completed (LTBC) schemes be completed within the stipulated timeframe.
He ordered that the current status of PC-IVs be submitted within a week and that the future Maintenance and Repair (M and R) plan will also be submitted through the chief engineer within the same period.
Memon further directed that the status of schemes under revision be immediately updated in consultation with the Planning and Development Department and that necessary schemes for the next financial year be finalized in consultation with the department.
He sought the school-side committee’s report on advance payments made across the province by Sept 30, directing show-cause notices issued to those responsible.
The secretary made it clear that delays, negligence and ineffective use of public resources in development projects would not be tolerated. ‘There will be no compromise on the interests of the public exchequer, and no officer should cross the red line,’ he said, directing all officers to improve their performance, ensure regular monitoring of schemes and complete development projects on time.
