Rawalpindi: The Punjab Emergency Service Rescue 1122 Murree successfully protected valuable forests and wildlife during some 191 forest fire incidents in 2025 across the Murree District, including Kotli Sattian.
According to official figures, 156 forest fires were reported in Murree and 35 in Kotli Sattian during the year. Rescue 1122 teams responded promptly to each incident, controlling the fires and preventing major loss of life, property and environmental damage, a Rescue 1122 spokesman said on Monday.
He said protecting wildlife was a primary focus during the operations. Rescue personnel conducted operations with care and skill to reduce risks to rare birds, wild animals and other species, preserving their natural habitats.
He noted that safeguarding wildlife habitats was critical for maintaining ecological balance.
The teams’ efforts not only prevented severe environmental damage but also protected neighbouring communities, valuable trees and natural resources from fire. Despite harsh weather, difficult mountainous terrain and limited resources, the crews successfully contained the spread of fires, the spokesman maintained.
The operations received praise from local residents, the Forest Department and environmental organisations, while the public commended Rescue 1122 Murree for their services.
The Rescue 1122 spokesman said protecting wildlife and the environment was a shared responsibility of the government and citizens.
The public was urged to report forest fires promptly, adopt precautionary measures and support Rescue 1122 in safeguarding natural resources.
