Lahore: Punjab Assembly (PA) Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan said on Monday that Pakistan and China were iron brothers and trusted partners, whose friendship had consistently withstood every challenge.
He said this while addressing a grand Spring Festival Gala organized to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, said a press release issued here. The ceremony was also attended by the Chinese Consul General Zhao Shiren along with distinguished representatives from diplomatic, business and social circles.
The speaker said that Pakistan’s recognition of the People’s Republic of China in 1950 was a historic and visionary decision, which laid the foundation for strong, enduring and time-tested bilateral relations.
He stated, “Pakistan-China relations are higher than the mountains and deeper than the oceans, firmly rooted in mutual trust, respect, and shared strategic interests.”
Highlighting the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he described it as a tangible symbol of the two countries’ partnership, noting that the project had played a significant role in advancing Pakistan’s energy sector, infrastructure development, and overall economic growth.
Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan further described defence cooperation as a clear reflection of the deep mutual confidence between Pakistan and China.
He added that cooperation in the fields of science, technology, and space research was opening new horizons for future collaboration.
He underscored that Chinese investment in Punjab was of critical importance for the province’s socio-economic development and the creation of employment opportunities.
In his concluding remarks, the Speaker said, “Pakistan-China friendship remains a cornerstone for regional peace, stability, prosperity and will continue to serve as a source of strength and progress for future generations.”
