Provision of facilities to small industries top priority: Commissioner

Sargodha: Commissioner Sargodha Division Jahanzeb Awan said the restoration of industrial process and provision of all possible facilities to small and medium-sized businesses was top priority of the incumbent government. He stated this while addressing a meeting to the members of Sargodha Chamber of Small Trades and Small Industry, says a handout issued here on Sunday. He said the promotion of industries would not only accelerate economic activity but also provide employment opportunities and income for the youth. He said that urban development was not possible without the support of businessmen and other stakeholders. He suggested that a forum should be formed in collaboration with the administrative officers, traders and other stakeholders, which should be headed by the Deputy Commissioner so that relief could be provided by making a comprehensive plan of the problems faced by citizens.

He said that funds had been approved from the government by planning the recent problems of sewerage in the
city and short-term planning for the construction and repair of roads. The commissioner further informed that Asian Development Bank had also set up a big drainage and water supply project in Sargodha and there was a strong possibility that a formal agreement was expected between the Punjab government and the Punjab bank. In this way, he said that plants would be installed to bring the wasted water usable.

The Commissioner said that it was made clear to the government institutions that a zero tolerance policy should be adopted in the matter of corruption. Jahanzeb Awan said that businessmen were the biggest stakeholders of the city. On the occasion, President Small Chamber Hasan Yusuf and other members informed the Commissioner about the problems and gave positive suggestions and opinions. He also assured the administrative officers for full cooperation to make the city clean, encroachment free, beautiful and business-steady.
