PSX sheds 1,113 points to close at 181,456 points

Islamabad: The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Thursday closed bearish, losing 1,113.48 points, a negative change of 0.61 percent, to settle at 181,456.34 points compared to 182,569.82 points on the previous trading day, according to PSX data.

During the session, the ready market witnessed a trading volume of 820.037 million shares with a traded value of Rs 45.977 billion, against 1,034.117 million shares valuing Rs 65.964 billion in the previous session. Market capitalization declined to Rs 20.537 trillion from Rs 20.630 trillion a day earlier.

Out of 482 active companies in the ready market, 150 advanced, 289 declined, while 43 remained unchanged.

Hascol Petroleum topped the volume chart with 62.650 million shares, followed by Media Times Limited with 43.656 million shares and Nishat Chunian Power with 36.696 million shares.

The top gainers included Atlas Honda Limited, which rose by Rs 117.71 to close at Rs 1,791.17, and Khyber Textile Mills Limited, which increased by Rs 91.98 to settle at Rs 1,784.75.

On the losing side, PIA Holding Company Limited (B) declined by Rs 1,046.67 to close at Rs 20,539.99, while Rafhan Maize Products Company Limited fell by Rs 176.82 to close at Rs 9,773.17.

In the futures market, turnover stood at 163.492 million shares with a traded value of Rs 12.370 billion, compared to 259.591 million shares worth Rs 18.875 billion in the previous session. Out of 313 futures-market companies, 55 recorded gains, while 255 declined and three remained unchanged.

Among futures contracts, NCPL-JAN led with 12.790 million shares, followed by BOP-JAN with 12.523 million shares and PTC-JAN with 10.638 million shares.
