Faisalabad:Punjab has begun preparations to replace the paper-based electrical test report system for new electricity connections with a fully digital process while the Energy Department has developed a mobile application and online portal to make testing, verification and issuance of reports more transparent, efficient and automated.
In this connection, a training workshop on the issuance of e-test reports was organized by the Punjab Energy Department at a local hotel under the Digital Punjab vision of Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz, where the officials, registered contractors, supervisors and Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) representatives were briefed about the new digital mechanism.
Chief Engineer Punjab Muhammad Yasin, who was the chief guest, highlighted the importance of e-test reports and the role of mobile application in streamlining the process. He said that this initiative would facilitate applicants and relevant professionals while reducing dependence on paperwork.
Director Technical Punjab and Electric Inspector Faisalabad Zafar Abbas, who hosted the workshop, welcomed the participants and thanked them for attending the training session.
Consultant Muhammad Umar Javed delivered a detailed technical briefing on the proposed system and explained responsibilities of the applicants, registered contractors, supervisors, FESCO officers and Electric Inspectorate officials in digital testing and verification process.
The participants were informed that the Energy Department had initiated the e-test report system under the Digital Punjab vision to make the test report process for new electricity connections paperless. The entire procedure would be carried out through automation and digital technology, enabling the relevant stakeholders to submit, conduct, verify and process electrical testing information through the designated digital platform.
During training, the participants were given detailed guidance about the technical responsibilities of each stakeholder and their respective roles in ensuring the accuracy and authenticity of electrical test reports.
A comprehensive question-answer session was also held, during which the participants raised queries about the new system and they were provided detailed explanations regarding its operation and technical requirements.
A practical demonstration of electrical testing was also conducted during workshop.
The participants were shown how direct earth, insulation and continuity tests could be performed through the use of testing equipment and gadgets for the e-test reporting mechanism.
The officials said that the test report system had been digitized through a dedicated mobile application and online portal, which would enable the process to be managed electronically instead of relying on conventional paper documentation.
They said that the practical implementation of e-test report system was expected to begin in December 2026 or January 2027.
A large number of registered contractors, supervisors, FESCO officials and other relevant staff participated in the training workshop.
