Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi has recorded 49 confirmed dengue cases during the current year with zero fatalities reported across the district, while 13 patients remain admitted in various local hospitals, health authorities confirmed on Friday.

According to data released by the District Health Authority Rawalpindi, a total of 5,372 suspected dengue patients have been screened so far this year, with 16 cases reported in October alone. To curb vector propagation, a field force comprising 415 outdoor and 985 indoor teams remains active across the division, having identified and registered 17,859 dengue hotspots on the central monitoring portal while achieving a 97 percent surveillance target over the past week.

Enforcing strict compliance with anti-dengue Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), the district administration teams registered 2,798 legal cases against violators, sealed 686 non-compliant buildings, issued 2,331 formal challans, and imposed fines totaling Rs. 3.15 million.

Health officials reiterated their appeal to citizens to eliminate standing water in residential courtyards and rooftop containers, stressing that public cooperation remains critical to preventing late-season mosquito breeding across sensitive union councils.
