SARGODHA:The Punjab Emergency Department (Rescue-1122) Sargodha observed the ‘First Aid Week’ aimed at providing training and awareness regarding the first aid to the public.
According to a press release, issued by Rescue-1122 office, the First Aid Week was observed on special direction of Secretary Punjab Emergency Services Department Dr Rizwan Naseer, under the supervision of District Emergency Officer Mazhar Shah, in which community teams of Rescue-1122 conducted training programmes across the district.
The ‘First Aid Week’ was observed from Sept 4 to Sept 9 in the district.
Mazhar Shah told reporter here on Sunday said that the purpose of observing the First Aid Week was to train one person in every household in basic medical assistance to become a first aider so that they could provide initial medical assistance to the affected person until rescue teams respond in emergency situations.
He further said that besides training sessions, awareness pamphlets were distributed among the citizens to promote awareness about First Aid and its importance.
Moreover, awareness banners were displayed at various public places, and camps were set up for registration of rescue volunteers.
District Emergency Officer Mazhar Shah urged citizens that every individual in the district should receive the first aid training from Rescue 1122 so that medical assistance could be provided to an affected person before the arrival of rescue teams in any emergency situation.
To obtain the first aid training, citizens could contact the nearest rescue station, he added.
