Islamabad:Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Information, Ikhtiar Wali Khan, on Saturday raised concerns over the deteriorating security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) under current Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s led government, citing terrorism, lawlessness, drug trafficking and governance challenges.
Speaking to a private TV channel, he stressed that restoring peace in the province must be the top priority. He maintained that political disputes should be addressed through democratic and constitutional channels, while security challenges require a unified and practical response.
He questioned the provincial government’s handling of the security situation, public issues and mismanagement of institutions in KP.
Answering the question, Coordinator focused that lasting stability would require coordinated action against terrorism, improved governance and greater investment in public services.
He said the people of the province deserve peace, quality education, healthcare, employment opportunities and an environment free from fear and lawlessness.
Ikhtiar Wali Khan emphasised the importance of implementing the National Action Plan (NAP) and adopting a clear strategy to counter terrorism, criticising provincial government for refusing to implement the NAP and for failing to adopt clear policy against terrorism.
