Muzaffargarh: A seminar on green energy was held here to highlight the need for sustainable energy solutions in view of the country’s ongoing energy challenges and increasing environmental pollution.

The seminar was organized at the office of non-governmental organization PSYCHOPE, with Ms. Amna Kulsoom Sial presiding over the event.

Energy experts, environmental activists, representatives of civil society and a large number of media persons attended the forum. Deputy Director Colleges Abdul Rehman and General Secretary Anjuman-e-Tajran Sheikh Amir Saleem were also present.

During the forum, a presentation was delivered through a projector, highlighting the country’s dependence on imported fuels to meet its energy requirements.

The participants were informed that Pakistan was meeting more than 60 percent of its energy needs through expensive imported fuels, which was placing a burden of billions of dollars on the national exchequer.

The speakers said dependence on imported fuel was not only increasing pressure on the country’s economy but was also contributing significantly to air pollution and environmental degradation.

The participants stressed the need for greater promotion and adoption of renewable and green energy sources to reduce dependence on imported fuels, address environmental challenges and move towards a more sustainable energy future.
