SH and ME terms reports on angiography machine procurement misleading

Lahore

Lahore: The Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education (SH and ME) Department on Thursday termed reports regarding the procurement of angiography machines as misleading and contrary to facts.

According to a department spokesperson, comparing prices of different models solely on the basis of similarity in their names was illogical and could mislead the public. He said the department had procured the angiography machines according to standardized specifications, with patient safety given top priority throughout the procurement process.

The spokesperson said the machines were state-of-the-art models equipped with large detectors, enabling angiography of the entire body, including the heart. He said the machines also featured QCA capabilities and 3D software for congenital heart diseases.

He said the advanced software reduced procedure time and significantly lowered risks to patient safety. The procurement package also included a five-year warranty, complete site preparation, a high-capacity UPS and generator, and 10 temporary pacemakers.

The spokesperson said it was incorrect to compare the machines merely on the basis of their names, adding that specifications, software capabilities and warranty terms were essential factors in assessing the procurement.

He said the department’s procurement was not only cost-effective but also ensured patient safety and superior treatment facilities.

The spokesperson requested the media to verify facts before publishing or broadcasting reports regarding the procurement.
