DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The Assistant Food Controller Tank Samiullah Jan on Monday paid a surprise visit to the bazaar and fined several shopkeepers for overcharging people.
According to district administration Tank, he checked the quality, expiry date, and prices of various food items at bakeries and fruit and vegetable shops besides taking stock of hygiene standards.
During the inspection, he imposed a fine on several shopkeepers after they were found involved in charging people more than the officially prescribed rates of the food items.
He also directed the shopkeepers to display the official price list at prominent places in their shops and sell the food items accordingly.
He said that operations against profiteers would continue indiscriminately and in this regard, no one would be allowed to take the law into their own hands.
