HYDERABAD: The Sindhi Language Authority (SLA) organized an online discussion on the poetry of the famous poet Sheikh Ayaz.
Speaking in the discussion, famous writer Fayyaz Latif said that a poet gives words to any language and Sheikh Ayaz wrote poetry in his own language like Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai.
The era in which Sheikh Ayaz was born, English was an important language, and after the creation of Pakistan, the importance of Urdu language increased, but Ayaz wrote poetry in his own language, Fayaz Latif said.
He said that Ayaz also wrote poetry in Urdu, but he was influenced by Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai. Researcher Abdul Waheed Kalwar said that Sheikh Ayaz used every color in his poetry, before partition, his poetry had a Persian color and after partition, Urdu influenced his writings. He said that Ayaz’s poetry is a linguistic bouquet.
Writer Mushtaq Gabol and other scholars also participated in the discussion and shed light on Sheikh Ayaz’s poetry.
