RAWALPINDI: Suthra Punjab Agency(SPA) Rawalpindi was carrying out a zero-waste operation across the city, rural areas and tehsils to improve cleanliness, curb littering and help prevent smog.
On the directions of Managing Director Rana Sajid Safdar, agency teams were actively removing litter, cleaning public spaces and raising public awareness about maintaining a clean environment.
During a cleanliness and anti-littering campaign in Mehr Colony (UC-08), Morgah (UC-82), Dhok Khaba (UC-42) and Affendi Colony (UC-26), the anti-littering squad conducted 400 inspections and issued warning notices to 55 people for violations.
Meanwhile, the agency’s communication team held an awareness campaign at Chah Sultan Furniture Market, informing shopkeepers and citizens about disposing of waste at designated points, keeping the market and surrounding areas clean, and taking precautionary measures to help control smog.
Special cleanliness arrangements were also underway at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium and along major roads ahead of international cricket matches. Sanitation workers have been deployed to clean the stadium’s interior and exterior, wash Stadium Road and Murree Road, and maintain cleanliness in adjoining areas to provide a clean environment for players, spectators and citizens.
The agency was also conducting zero-waste and anti-littering operations in rural areas and tehsils to remove garbage heaps, clean roads and streets, and reduce environmental pollution.
The administration has urged citizens, traders and shopkeepers to avoid dumping waste in open spaces, cooperate with sanitation staff and contribute to keeping Rawalpindi clean.
