Karachi: An alleged operative of the outlawed Fitna al-Khawarij (TTP) was killed in an exchange of fire with law enforcement personnel during a joint operation by the Sindh Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and a federal civilian intelligence agency.
According to a CTD spokesperson on Tuesday, the suspect was injured during the exchange of fire and later succumbed to his injuries. A 9 mm pistol was recovered from his possession.
The spokesperson said forensic examination of the recovered pistol established that it matched a weapon used in several terrorism cases registered by the CTD and various police stations in Karachi.
The weapon was allegedly used in the killing of police constable Khadim, firing on a police mobile in the Gizri area and an attack on Sub-Inspector Arab Khan, besides other terrorism-related incidents.
The pistol was also linked through forensic analysis to First Information Report (FIR) No. 510/2025 registered at Gizri police station in connection with the attack on a police mobile, FIR No. 226/2026 registered at Manghopir police station concerning an attack on two police personnel in which one constable was martyred and another injured, and FIR No. 386/2026 at Manghopir police station concerning the attack on Sub-Inspector Arab Khan.
The CTD has formed a special team comprising officers and personnel to identify and arrest the deceased suspect’s alleged associates. Further investigation and legal proceedings were underway, the spokesperson said.
