SARGODHA:The district administration on Saturday cancelled the licenses of three bus stands obstructing traffic flow on University Road and sealed their premises to ease traffic congestion and facilitate commuters.
According to official sources,General Bus Stand 47, Zeeshan Travels and Daewoo Express were sealed on the directions of the deputy commissioner.
The decision was taken at the 177th meeting of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA),chaired by the deputy commissioner, to reduce traffic pressure on University Road and ensure smooth movement of vehicles.
Secretary RTA said the licenses of the three bus stands had been cancelled under Rules 266(1) and 266(2) of the Motor Vehicles Rules,1969 and the stands were sealed after completion of the legal process.
The concerned bus services have been directed to shift their vehicles to the General Lorry Stand to facilitate traffic flow and minimize inconvenience to commuters.
Arrangements have been finalized to ensure the continuity of transport services, he added.
The district administration’s initiative to ease congestion on University Road, reduce public inconvenience and ensure smooth traffic flow has been welcomed by citizens,the secretary said.
