Peshawar:Commissioner Bannu Division Khalid Mahmood on Wednesday inaugurated a three-day training programme for members and relevant staff of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) committees at Bacha Khan Hall.
Addressing the opening session, the commissioner said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had introduced the ADR mechanism to provide people with a prompt, affordable and sustainable means of resolving disputes and to reduce the burden of cases on courts.
He said the training was aimed at further improving the effectiveness of ADR committees by equipping their members with practical skills for resolving disputes through dialogue, reconciliation and mutually acceptable settlements.
Experts from Islamabad are conducting the training and will provide practical guidance to ADR members on dispute resolution techniques, reconciliation between parties and effective handling of cases.
Captain (retd) Khalid Mahmood welcomed the visiting experts and appreciated their participation in the capacity-building initiative. Former federal secretary Dr Atta-ur-Rehman, advocate Javed Iqbal, Noor Afridi and Ismatullah are among the experts participating in the training programme.
Secretary to the Commissioner Bannu Mujahid Khan, the coordinator and members of ADR committees also attended the opening session. At the conclusion of the inaugural session, the visiting experts presented a commemorative appreciation shield to Commissioner Khalid Mahmood.
