GILGIT:Planning and Development Department Gilgit-Baltistan in collaboration with the UNDP Pakistan on Wednesday organized a gender mainstreaming training session for senior policy makers of the GB government.
According to an official statement, the objective was to integrate gender in policies, programmes and planning.
In the session all administrative secretaries participated and discussed in detail the structural issues deriving the discriminatory practices prevalent in society.
The ACS (Dev.) G-B while addressing the session said that integration of gender concerns at Planning, Execution, Monitoring & Evaluation was key to achieve targets under the SDG 5.
He further said that women empowerment was a multiplier factor that contributed in economic development of the whole society. Educated mothers could make better and informed decisions regarding child health and education.
He further stressed the need fro addressing vulnerabilities while planning development projects. The ACS also thanked the UNDP for supporting P&D in organising the training session.
