UAF stages walk for SDGs awareness

FAISALABAD:University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) has taken out global sustainability walk in order to create awareness about collective efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

University spokesman said here on Tuesday that this walk was meant to raise awareness about the critical issues facing our planet and inspire collective action towards a greener, more sustainable world.

He said that the community commitment to sustainability echoes a universal call to address climate change and environmental degradation.

UAF Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmed Khan led the awareness walk organized by Green Youth Movement Club UAF while university treasurer Dr Umer Saeed Qadri, Dean Faculty of Agriculture Engineering and Technology Dr. Muhammad Azam Khan; Director Student Affairs Dr. Nadeem Abbas; Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed; Dr Naveed Farah; Dr. Muhammad Irfan and others participated in it.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan stressed the need for pacing up efforts to achieve the SDGs that include 17 points which are an urgent call for action by all countries in a global partnership to achieve zero hunger, good health, quality education, and ending poverty, and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health, nutrition, education, reduce inequality, and ensure economic growth.

He said that the climate changes have become one of the largest enemies to the mankind. “We should have to work on One Health to improve agriculture, environment, health and ecosystem,” he added.

The walk was also attended by environmentally conscious members, students, and community members towards a more sustainable future.

The GYM Club has reaffirmed its commitment to global sustainability by organizing this impactful walk for global sustainability awareness, spokesman added.
