District

FAISALABAD: PM’s Special Representative for Religious Harmony and Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi Thursday said that Ulema and Mashaikh belonging to all schools of thoughts are united for promotion of religious harmony, peace and tranquility during the holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram.

Addressing a press conference at the committee room in the Deputy Commissioner’s office here, he said all religious parties have passed a resolution unanimously for establishing a peaceful atmosphere and better law and order in the country during the holy month. He said that some forces wanted to create anarchy in the name of religion through a false propaganda on social media in the country, but they would never succeed in their negative designs. Release of a three-year-old video on social media recently was an attempt to mislead the nation, but ulema would ensure national solidarity, peace and harmony by forging unity among their ranks, he added.

He said that committees of religious harmony had al
ways played a positive role whenever any untoward situation arises in the country. ‘We would have to stop all kinds of sectarianism and extremism through promotion of peace and unity in the country collectively,’ Ashrafi said.

He said that all schools of thought have respect for each other’s sanctities during Muharram-ul-Haram. Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) is the leader of all humanity and not only of Muslims. Muharram days are very holy and respectable for all, he added.

Maulana Ashrafi said that Ulema and Mashaikh were standing unitedly with their armed forces and all other state institutions for establishing peace in the country. He said that Ulema had resolved their commitment through Payam-e-Pakistan that they would fully cooperate with the district administrations to establish peace.

He urged the media representatives to investigate and verify the news before airing as it will help to eliminate rumour-mongering. He said that our national forces, nation and ulema know very well how to defend the homeland.

Hafiz Ashrafi also met members of the peace committees.
