UoR inks MoUs with three Turkish universities

Islamabad

Islamabad: The University of Rawalpindi (UoR) here on Wednesday signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with three leading Turkish universities to expand academic exchanges, joint research, faculty and student mobility and cultural cooperation.

The MoU was signed during a three-day visit of the Turkish universities’ 18 member Turkish higher education delegation, led by the President of Trkiye’s Council of Higher Education (YOK), with the initiative facilitated by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan.

The MoUs were signed by Chairman Board of Governors, University of Rawalpindi, Dr. Muhammad Abubakar, in the presence of Muhammad Murtaza Noor, National Coordinator, Inter-University Consortium for Promotion of Social Sciences (IUCPSS).

The Turkish delegation’s visit was part of efforts to deepen higher education linkages between Pakistan and Trkiye and promote greater institutional cooperation between universities of the two countries.

Under the agreements, UoR and its Turkish partner universities will explore academic and institutional collaboration based on the principles of equality and reciprocity.

The areas of cooperation include exchange of academic and administrative staff, student exchange programmes, collaborative research projects, joint proposal development, student placements and cooperation in thesis research.

The universities will also work towards jointly organising scientific, academic, social and cultural activities, including conferences, symposiums, workshops and seminars.

The MoUs further provide for exchange of university journals and academic publications, as well as development of short-term educational and training programmes for students and staff.

The partner institutions may also collaborate in other areas of mutual interest, subject to agreement between the concerned parties.

Specific programmes and activities will be developed through separate agreements or protocols involving the relevant faculties, institutes and academic units.

The implementation of future activities will be subject to mutual approval, availability of necessary support and compliance with applicable laws, regulations and institutional policies.

The collaboration is expected to create further opportunities for faculty and student mobility, joint research, knowledge sharing and institutional partnerships, contributing to stronger educational and academic ties between Pakistan and Trkiye.
