Various food points penalised for hygiene violations


Multan: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) conducted a large-scale inspection campaign across Multan, Khanewal, and Vehari, targeting sweet manufacturing units, snack factories, grocery stores, beverage plants, and restaurants.



The operations resulted in imposition of heavy fines, seizure of 25 kilograms of expired products and destruction of 15 litres of adulterated soda water.



Two bakeries located on Nishtar Road and in Sabzazar Colony were fined Rs. 40,000 each for storing stale food in freezers, unhygienic conditions in the washing area, and use of ENO, an unapproved ingredient, in the preparation of sweets.



Two beverage plants in Industrial Estate and Shah town were fined a total of Rs. 90,000 due to low Brix value in drinks, absence of water quality test reports, and lack of medical certificates for workers.



During inspections on Kutchehri Road (Kabirwala) and Shamkot, two food outlets were fined Rs. 50,000 collectively for using substandard ingredients, poor hygiene in kitchen areas, and selling expired burgers.



A grocery store on Club Road Vehari was fined Rs. 17,000 for selling expired food products.



Two restaurants in Lakkar Mandi (Burewala) were fined Rs. 10,000 each for use of Monosodium Glutamate (China salt) in food, and absence of medical fitness certificates for staff.
