Burewala: Former SHO City Vehari, Sub-Inspector Muhammad Waqas Ghumman, has been dismissed from service after a departmental inquiry found him guilty of corruption, misuse of authority and illegally detaining two persons for 17 days, officials said here Saturday.
According to the inquiry findings, the allegations of keeping the two individuals in illegal custody for 17 days were proved against the former SHO. The inquiry also established that their arrests and detention had not been recorded in the daily police diary, in violation of prescribed procedures.
The inquiry further found that Muhammad Waqas Ghumman had allegedly received Rs900, 000 as bribe for releasing the two detained persons. Despite being summoned several times to appear before the inquiry proceedings, the former SHO failed to attend.
The departmental inquiry declared Muhammad Waqas Ghumman guilty of serious corruption and misuse of authority. Following the findings, the competent authority ordered his dismissal from service.
