Lahore: Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain has said that workers hold a fundamental position in the industrial sector.
He added that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has taken exemplary measures for the welfare and well-being of the people.
He was addressing a ceremony held at Workers Welfare School, Shahdara on Tuesday, where he, along with Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resource Muhammad Munshaullah Butt, distributed 679 welfare grant cheques worth Rs55.1 million among registered workers of Sheikhupura.
Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain said the provision of facilities and financial assistance to workers is commendable and such initiatives would help improve the living standards of workers and their families.
Punjab Minister Muhammad Munshaullah Butt said workers are a valued segment of society and comprehensive measures are being taken for their welfare and well-being in line with the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. He said welfare grants are being provided through an online system to ensure timely and transparent financial assistance and facilitate workers. Improving the living standards of workers and their families remains among the government’s top priorities, he added.
Secretary Workers Welfare Fund Dr. Mujtaba Bharwana, Labour Department officials and a large number of workers also attended the ceremony.
