Lahore: Police recovered a 26-year-old youth from Faisalabad and arrested him along with his alleged accomplices after he reportedly staged his own kidnapping for ransom, police said on Sunday.
According to SP Cantt, Taimur Aslam allegedly staged his kidnapping to obtain Rs1. 5 million from his family. He reportedly sent photographs showing himself with his hands and feet tied and demanded ransom.
DSP Wajeeh-ul-Hasan said Manawan Police, using modern technology, traced the youth’s location and recovered him from Faisalabad. His alleged accomplices were also arrested, he added.
Police said a case of kidnapping for ransom was registered on the complaint of Taimur Aslam’s wife. The family was allegedly warned against informing police.
Following the incident, DIG Operations Faisal Kamran directed police to ensure the recovery of the youth and arrest those involved.
Further investigation was underway.
