KARACHI: Administrator Karachi Laeeq Ahmed on Monday inaugurated fumigation campaign in the city to eradicate the flies, mosquitoes and other insects that have appeared after the start of Eid-ul-Azha and monsoon season.
A memorandum of understanding has also been signed with Al-Khidmat to perform regular fumigation in all district in a highly active and effective manner, ” the Administrator said this while talking to media persons after launching the campaign.
Senior Director Coordination Khalid Khan, Senior Director Municipal Services SM Taha, Director Municipal Services Noman Arshad, Director Municipal Public Health Mujaddid Israni, Tariq Mustafa, Al-Khidmat Chief Executive Naveed Ali Baig, Executive Director Rashid Qureshi, Director Community Services Qazi Syed Sadar-ud-din and Coordinator Al-Khidmat Manzar Alam were also present on the occasion
The Administrator Karachi said that in order to prevent dengue, malaria and other epidemic diseases during the monsoon season, it is necessary to spray effectively throughout the city. The KMC and Al-Khidmat will run the campaign jointly and the two agencies will also monitor it regularly, he added.
Ahmed said that work has been started in the District South from Monday and the campaign will be gradually rolled out in each district for which KMC provided trained staff and 35 the service vehicles with diesel and spray
“The whole city is in the grip of the COVID-19 epidemic. Citizens should be very careful to deal with this deadly virus, ” he cautioned.
The Administrator said that the fourth wave of coronavirus is taking a very dangerous turn. “We have to take precautionary measures to save our own lives as well as the lives of others, ” he added.
Chief Executive Al-Khidmat Naveed Ali Baig speaking on the occasion said that today is a very important day and Al-Khidmat has signed a MoU with KMC for fumigation in the spirit of serve the city.
Al-Khidmat is an organization that seeks to meet the needs of the city, he said, adding that after the monsoon, flies and mosquitoes breed, which leads to numerous diseases.
Baig said that if civic bodies and civil society work together, better results will come out. He said that Al-Khidmat will continue to cooperate with it in various welfare projects.
“The purpose of both the organizations is to serve the city., ” he added and said that Al-Khidmat is working in seven different sectors of life including health, education, Kifalat, orphanage, clean water, employment, community services and disaster management.
The MoU was signed by Senior Director Municipal Services and Director Community Services Qazi Syed Sadar-ud-din on behalf of KMC and Al-Khidmat respectively.
