PESHAWAR:A campaign tilted ‘Claim Your Rights’ was launched in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to create awareness on ‘Right to Information (RTI) and ‘Right to Services (RTS) among masses.
The project is focusing public in general and women in particular to
apprise them about their rights and the mechanism through which they could be facilitated from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Commission and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Right to Public Services Commission.
An official of the campaign informed reporter that besides the commissions, the project was being supported by GIZ – Support to Local Governance Program and implemented by the Institute of Management Sciences Peshawar.
He said the project’s awareness and information campaign was focuses on four dimensions including Awareness and Advocacy Seminars, Digital Media Campaign (social media), Broadcast Media Campaign (radio and television), Print Media Campaign (newspapers and outdoor advertising) and SMS Campaign (mobile phone networks).
The project had so far successfully conducted seminars in Nowshera, Kohat, Swat and Abbottabad districts raising awareness and educating more than 650 participants including educationists, lawyers, journalists, students, civil society, opinion leaders and others through seminars about their ‘rights’ to information and public services.
As part of its overall targets for the coming months, he said, the project would directly benefit more than 0.4 million people particularly women and five million people through SMS campaign.
