PESHAWAR: The district administration of Dir Lower is taking measures to extend relief to citizens by ensuring quality essential commodities at affordable prices for them.
As part of such efforts, officials concerned of the District Food Department imposed Rs37500 fine on several shopkeepers during various surprise visits for overcharging and violating other relevant laws.
During the visit, Assistant Commissioners of various areas also booked five shopkeepers besides issuing warnings to 25 against overcharging.
The authorities concerned also analysed prices of various food items during visit to fruit and vegetable market and price list was prepared for retailers and direct them to ensure that people get items at the prescribed rates.
The administration also warned that strict action would be taken against those shopkeepers who took law into their own hands by selling commodities more than the official rates.
