ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Human Rights Dr Shireen Mazari on Wednesday said the government was making first ever law on ‘Enforced Disappearance’ that would enable state’s accountability before the nation.
In a seminar held here in connection with international democracy day, Mazari termed it as great success of the incumbent government and a remarkable success of democracy prevailing in the country.
The minister said there were 1 to 28 clauses in the constitution about rights of humanity.
She said it was also a success of democracy in the pandemic situation where the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) was established without marking complete lockdown in the country.
She said the democracy was lacking in European countries where a Muslim girl could not be able to go to school by wearing scarf or doing any business by wearing cultural dressing.
She said first there was need that these countries should change themselves than talk about any other nation including Afghanistan.
Mazari was of the view that no power could harm democracy in the country, adding, “Democracy is successful in the country and it will remain successful in the future ahead.”
She said that senior citizens law had also been made by the government whereas journalist protection bill was also being passed to safeguard journalists’ rights.
She also lauded various steps that had been taken by the government to protect the human rights laws.
