ISLAMABAD:National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice Javed Iqbal said the fight against corruption was the top most priority of (NAB) and the cases of those who looted billions of rupees from the country and the nation, would be brought to the logical conclusion as per law.
In a statement, he said that NAB gave top priority to fight against corruption by utilising all its resources. He vowed taking the cases of plunderers of billion of rupee to logical conclusion.
He sad that NAB was an anti-corruption institution, which has no affiliation with any political party, individual or group but state of Pakistan. NAB officers were considering eradication of corruption as their national duty.
He said that NAB had formulated a comprehensive three pronged anti-corruption strategy of awareness, prevention and law enforcement under the policy of “Accountability for All” which was appreciated by the reputable national and international bodies.
The Chairman NAB said that according to Gilani & Gallup survey, 59 percent of people have shown trust upon NAB. 1,405 accused persons were convicted by different accountability courts throughout the country due to vigorous prosecution of NAB first time in the history recovering Rs 539 billion directly and indirectly during the tenure of present management from Oct 2017 to Dec 2021. No other anti-corruption agency has shown such kind of excellent performance.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has recovered
Rs 821 billion directly and indirectly from 1999 till date.
At present 1,237 references worth about Rs. 1353 billion were under trial in various esteemed accountability courts of the country.
He said that NAB was considered a role model for the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries for its efforts in eradicating corruption.
These countries include India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan. NAB chairs the SAARC Anti-Corruption Forum.
NAB is focal organisation of Pakistan under United National Convention against Corruption (UNCAC).
Pakistan has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with China for eradication of corruption and ensuring transparency in China Pakistan economic corridor (CPEC) projects.
NAB has set up a state-of-the-art forensic science laboratory at NAB Rawalpindi.
NAB has established a Pakistan anti corruption training academy for NAB officials for imparting specialised training to investigation officers on modern lines in order to conduct investigations of cases of money laundering and white collar crimes.

He said that NAB believed in accountability of others as well as self-accountability.
