Peshawar: District Police Officer (DPO) Khyber Waqar Ahmed on Wednesday chaired a special darbar for police officials and jawans of the district, which was attended by Commandant Bara Rifles Amir Tauseef as a special guest.
At the beginning of the darbar, rich tributes were paid to the police martyrs who laid down their lives for the motherland and the police department. The participants renewed the pledge that the mission and sacrifices of the martyrs would always be held in high esteem.
Police officials and jawans presented their various legitimate problems and grievances before the DPO, who listened to them attentively and issued on-the-spot directives to the concerned officers for the immediate resolution of several issues.
Detailed discussions were also held on fixation of salaries of police jawans, posting and transfer policy, resolution of pending legitimate issues of the families of the personnel martyred before merger, service structure and promotion matters.
Speaking on the occasion, the DPO said he was in constant contact and coordination with the concerned authorities for the resolution of all legitimate problems of police officials and jawans. He said the welfare of jawans and the timely redressal of their legitimate issues were among his top priorities.
He said police jawans were performing their duties in difficult circumstances, therefore every possible step would be taken to resolve their basic needs and problems, adding that effective liaison would be maintained with the concerned institutions for the purpose.
The shortage of manpower at various police posts of the district and the need for necessary equipment and other basic facilities was also reviewed during the darbar.
The DPO directed the concerned officers to take practical measures on emergency basis for provision of the required manpower and other necessities at the posts.
Commandant Bara Rifles Amir Tauseef, while addressing the darbar, lauded the services of police officials and jawans and stressed the need for further strengthening mutual cooperation and effective liaison between police and security forces for maintenance of peace and order.
The DPO urged police officials and jawans to perform their duties of protecting the lives and property of citizens, maintaining peace and ensuring supremacy of law with honesty, a sense of responsibility and spirit of service.
He said holding such darbars was an effective medium for listening to the problems of police jawans and resolving them, which further strengthened direct contact between officers and jawans.
He said such darbars would continue to be held in future so that police personnel could present their legitimate issues before the high-ups without hesitation, adding that weekly orderly rooms were also being held regularly besides the darbars.
