Pets care center inaugurated in city

FAISALABAD:Provincial Minister for Livestock Sardar Hasnain Bahadur Dreshak Friday said that the Punjab government was taking various measures for the development of livestock sector in the province.

Inaugurating the ‘Pet Care Center’ at civil veterinary hospital here, he said that Faisalabad was the second biggest city of the province where a pet care center had been established.

He said that although five private pet centers were functional in the city but there was no center at government level which could provide treatment facilities to the pet animals.

He hoped that the pet center would be helpful for extending all types of treatment facilities to domestic animals in the district as well as adjacent cities.

The minister said that work on a project ‘Genetic Improvement’ was in pipeline for which a sum of Rs 5 billion had been earmarked in the Punjab budget.

He said that the government would provide machinery to livestock farmers through which they would be able to improve feed for their animals,adding that another program for exporting meat was also under consideration.

A program of animals’ vaccination against various diseases was implemented in the province, he said.

The minister warned that stern legal action would be taken against ghost employees if found in the department.
