LAHORE: The Capital City Police Officer recovered Rs 2.2 million from the accused and handed it over to the owner.
Earlier, the police handed over Rs 1.3 million to a widow, Shumaila Bibi, few days back and on Thursday, the remaining amount of Rs 0.9 million was also handed over to her.
According to the police, Shumaila Bibi, the widow of a retired employee Muhammad Saeed Qazi, had been released Rs 2.2 million by the government as the gratuity dues of her husband. The nephew of the old lady, Abdul Jabbar, with the help of his accomplice, Munir Ahmad, fraudulently transferred that amount from the bank account of Shumaila to his account.
The widow contacted the Capital City Police Officer Lahore Additional IG Fayyaz Ahmad Dev, who directed SSP Discipline Ejaz Rasheed to recover the amount and return it the victim.
The SSP recovered Rs 1.3 million in cash and two cheques worth Rs 900, 000 from the accused. The widow met the CCPO on Thursday and expressed her gratitude on speedy action and justice provided to her by the Lahore Police.
