FAISALABAD: The Regional Tax Office (RTO) Faisalabad has deleted 500-600 retailers from a list received from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) because of their non-eligibility for integration
with the FBR main portal.
However, notices are being issued to the remaining retailers for immediate compliance of the integration of Point of Sales (POS). Addressing the business community at the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI), Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue Mahmood Hussain Jafari said that maximum relief was being given to law abiding citizens.
About integration of the POS, he said that shop-owners with an area of 1,000 square feet or more were eligible for this category. Similarly, shopkeepers selling/importing national and international brands also qualified for this category, adding that any shop with an annual electricity bill of Rs12 lakh or more also qualified for this category.
“If any person thinks that he is not falling under these categories, he may file for revision and his name will be deleted from the list within 24 hours,” he said. About integration, he said that it offered lucrative benefits and retailers must avail this opportunity.
He said that a new SRO had been issued allowing hundred per cent input adjustments in case of integration, however, retailers failing to get integration by July would be entitled for only 40% input adjustment.
He said that it would also facilitate them in filing returns and no question will be asked about its details.
He said that E-Kitcheries were also being arranged regularly to redress genuine grievances of the taxpayers.
About broadening the tax base, he said that for the first time tax return form had been uploaded on the FBR website on July 01, and people could easily file their returns up to September 30.
Earlier, Engineer Hafiz Ihtasham Javed, the President FCCI, welcomed the chief commissioner and said that FCCI and FBR enjoyed close liaison being taxpayers and tax collectors.
Former vice president Engineer Ahmed Hassan, Jamil Fakhri, Mian Abdul Waheed, Tanveer Riaz, Naseer Vohra, Sohail Butt, Aslam Bhalli, Zafar Sindhu, Haji Talib Hussain Rana, Sikandar Azam and Shahid Razzaq Sikka participated in the question-answer session.
Later on, Senior Vice President Chaudhry Talat Mahmood presented the FCCI shield to Chief Commissioner Mahmood Hussain Jafari.
