PESHAWAR: The Information Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has banned journalists having no official identity card or social media activists from interviewing government officers or attending official meetings.
The department said only journalists with accreditation cards would be allowed to attend official meetings or interview government officers in their respective districts.
A notification issued in this regard stated that it has been observed that some un-authorized and unregistered persons were trying to access high level government meetings under the guise of journalists. It further said that access of such unaccredited journalists to public places and meetings may lead to any miss-happening and embarrassment for the government.
Therefore, all the authorities in local administration are advised to allow only accredited journalists holding official cards issued by the Information Department to official gatherings, meetings and sessions.
