Wing, Yow win Asian Individual Squash C’ship titles

ISLAMABAD:Tong Tsz Wing of Hong Kong and Ng Eain Yow of Malaysia clinched the 21st Asian Individual Squash Championship titles here at the Mushaf Squash Complex on Sunday.

Both Men and Women finals were played on Sunday. In the women’s final, Tong Tsz Wing of Hong Kong downed Rachel Mae Arnold of Malaysia with a game score of 11-8, 13-11, 11-5 in 34 minutes.

Meanwhile in the men’s final, Ng Eain Yow of Malaysia outplayed Yip Tsz Fung of Hong Kong with a game score of 11-6, 13-11 and 11-9 in 40 minutes.

Senior Vice President, Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) Air Marshal Aamir Masood, who was the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the championship distributed trophies and medals to the players. Squash legends Qamar Zaman and Jansher Khan and Umer Saeed, CEO Combaxx Sports were also present on the occasion.

It may be mentioned here that the Men’s event had a draw of 32 players whereas, the Women’s event included 16 players’ draw. Apart from Pakistan, a group of international players, officials and referees from Hong Kong, Iran, Kuwait, Malaysia, Qatar, Singapore and Sri Lanka were featuring in the championship.
