Lahore: The district administration removed 1,471 encroachments and took down 4,270 banners, posters, and streamers across the city during a two-day, large-scale anti-encroachment operation.
The initiative is part of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s ‘Clean Punjab Vision,’ aimed at improving city cleanliness, traffic flow, and public access.
Assistant Commissioners, along with field teams from the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) and Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL), carried out operations in Anarkali, Shahdara, Township, Ravi Road, Samanabad, and other areas. Illegal sheds, stalls, and constructions on government land and drains were demolished, and streets and markets were cleared to provide citizens with wider roads and improved access.
Deputy Commissioner Lahore Syed Musa Raza said that the operations are being conducted impartially, and no one is above the law. Special focus was placed on encroachment ‘hotspots’ affecting traffic flow and public convenience. Historic sites impacted by illegal structures were also restored, enhancing both accessibility and visual appeal.
The DC Lahore directed field staff to maintain discipline, provide guidance to citizens at information points, and follow clear duty rosters. He said operations will continue until all encroachments are removed, ensuring Lahore is completely clean, organized, and visually appealing. He said the district administration is dedicated to improving urban management, ensuring law enforcement, and addressing visual pollution and illegal constructions across the city.
