Karachi: The out going Consul General of Malaysia in Karachi, Herman Hardynata Ahmed, paid a farewell visit to Sindh Assembly on Thursday and discussed matters of mutual interest with Speaker, Syed Awais Qadir Shah.

Speaker Sindh Assembly received the Consul General (CG), Herman Hardynata Ahmed on arrival here at the Assembly building.

Secretary Provincial Assembly of Sindh, G.M. Umar Farooq, and Director General Media, Irfan Ahmed Memon, were also accompanied with him.

The Consul General, Herman Hardynata Ahmed, informed Speaker, Syed Awais Qadir Shah, that after completing his diplomatic responsibilities in Karachi, he would now assume his new assignment in Putrajaya, the federal administrative capital of Malaysia, for the next three years.

They also discussed matters of mutual interest, including Pakistan-Malaysia relations, diplomatic cooperation, economic development, regional peace, people-to-people contacts, and other areas of shared interest.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Consul General
of Malaysia presented Speaker, Syed Awais Qadir Shah, with Malaysia’s traditional cultural headgear, Tanjak, as a souvenir.

Speaker Shah presented the Consul General with the Legacy Shield of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh, a traditional Sindhi Cap, Ajrak, and books on the history of Sindh and the Provincial Assembly of Sindh.

Karachi: The total liquid foreign reserves of Pakistan surged to US$ 23,988.7 million at the start of the new financial year as reserves held by the State Bank of Pakistan increased to $ 18,471 million on realization of GoP inflows.

‘During the week ended on 3-Jul-2026, SBP’s FX reserves increased by US$ 1,944 million to US$ 18,471.0 million. The increase in SBP’s FX reserves is due to realization of GoP inflows,’ the central bank reported on Thursday in its weekly statement on the position of liquid foreign reserves.

Meanwhile, the net foreign reserves held by commercial banks remained stable at $ 5,517.7 million during the period under review, the break up of forex reserves showed.

Pakistan’s total liquid foreign reserves in the previous week ended on June 24, 2026 stood $ 22,044.6 million. Among them the State Bank of Pakistan held foreign exchange reserves of $ 16,527.2 million while the other $ 5,517.4 million were held by the commercial banks.

Karachi: In a swift and coordinated emergency response, Pakistan Navy, in coordination with Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA), has successfully rescued all 20 crew members from a sinking cargo dhow operating east of Ormara.

The cargo dhow, which was transiting from Karachi to the Gulf of Oman, experienced severe flooding. The situation quickly escalated due to deteriorating weather conditions at sea, placing the vessel and its crew in immediate danger, said a press release issued by Directorate General Public Relations (Navy).

Upon receipt of the distress call, the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre (JMICC) promptly coordinated with Pakistan Navy to initiate an immediate search and rescue operation.

Pakistan Navy swiftly mobilized and deployed both surface and air assets. PNS HUNAIN was immediately diverted to the scene to undertake the rescue operation. Additionally, a Sea King helicopter was simultaneously tasked to provide critical aerial surveillance and extraction support.

Owing to the rapid response and professional execution by Pakistan Navy units, all 20 crew members were safely recovered from the distressed vessel and are receiving the necessary medical care and attention.

The successful operation underscores Pakistan Navy’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety of life at sea and its readiness to respond to maritime emergencies around the clock.

Karachi: Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi organized a commemorative event titled “Burhan Wani – A Movement, A Milestone” at Haseena Moin Hall to mark the 10th death anniversary of Burhan Muzaffar Wani.

The event was addressed by Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Convener of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Jammu and Kashmir; chief guest Sharmila Faruqui; Hurriyat leader Sheikh Abdul Mateen; Sardar Sagheer Ahmed, advocate; political analyst Sardar Nazakat Khan; and Advocate Parvez Shah. The proceedings were conducted by Bashir Sadozai. A large number of political leaders, activists, and members of the public attended the gathering.

Speaking on the occasion, Ghulam Muhammad Safi said that understanding India’s foreign policy and its expansionist ambitions is essential. He stated that India has, at different times, created disputes with its neighboring countries in an effort to expand its regional influence. Referring to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s statement that “Kashmir Pakistan Ki Shah Rag Hai.

‘Safi said Burhan Muzaffar Wani and the people of Kashmir had realized that the struggle for freedom was no longer confined to military, diplomatic, or political fronts, as social media had also emerged as an effective platform. He said Burhan Wani successfully used social media to highlight the situation in Kashmir and India’s actions before the international community, influencing global public opinion.

Chief guest Sharmila Faruqui said that the future of Kashmir should be determined in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and the resolutions of the United Nations. She stated that whenever the Pakistan People’s Party had the opportunity to serve, it consistently raised the Kashmir issue at both national and international forums.

She recalled that the late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto forcefully presented the Kashmir case at the United Nations, calling it a defining chapter in history. She added that Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari continued the same commitment by raising the voice of the Kashmiri people globally.

She added that Burhan Wani had become a symbol of the Kashmiri freedom movement and that future generations would continue the struggle. She reaffirmed that the Pakistan People’s Party would continue to stand with the people of Kashmir and concluded her speech by raising the slogan, “Kashmir Banega Pakistan” (“Kashmir Will Become Pakistan”).

Karachi: Four people were injured in a firing incident near a mosque in the North Nazimabad area of Karachi on Thursday, according to Rescue sources quoted by television channels.

Rescue officials said the incident occurred near a mosque, where unidentified assailants opened fire, leaving four people injured. Upon receiving information, rescue team rushed to the scene and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Police also reached the site and launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances and motive behind the firing.

Karachi: Sindh Government Spokesperson Mustafa Abdullah Baloch listened public complaints at Public Complaint Cell established at the Chief Minister House here.

He directed the relevant authorities to take immediate action for their resolution as the citizens from different areas contacted the Complaint Cell to highlight issues relating to civic services and other public matters, said a statement on Thursday.

The complaints were forwarded to the concerned departments for prompt action.

Speaking on the occasion, Mustafa Abdullah Baloch said that the Sindh Government is committed to ensuring timely resolution of public complaints and providing relief to citizens. He said the Chief Minister’s Public Complaint Cell is serving as an effective platform for addressing public concerns.

He added that citizens can register their complaints through the Complaint Cell, where efforts are being made to ensure that issues are resolved without any delay.
