Gujrat: Intermittent rain with gusty winds and thunderstorms is expected in Gujrat from Friday evening/night to Sunday morning, with heavy rainfall likely at some places, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
The district administration has directed all relevant departments to remain alert and ensure effective drainage arrangements during the forecast wet spell.
Field teams of WASA, municipal committees, the district council, Rescue 1122 and other concerned departments will monitor low-lying and vulnerable areas and remain prepared to deal with any emergency.
The administration has advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during rainfall and stay away from electricity poles, wires, trees, weak structures and signboards.
Residents have also been urged to avoid entering low-lying areas and accumulated rainwater, while travellers have been advised to plan journeys according to weather conditions.
Farmers have been advised to take necessary precautionary measures to protect crops and livestock.
