Peshawar: Pakistan’s Meteorological Department has warned of possible landslides and rock falls at vulnerable locations in the upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to heavy rainfall.

The department on Sunday said intense downpours may trigger flash floods, while strong winds and lightning could damage weak structures, including solar panels, power poles and billboards.

Skies are expected to remain partly cloudy across most districts, with hot and humid conditions likely to persist in the southern parts of the province.

Rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms is forecast for Upper and Lower Chitral, Upper and Lower Dir, Swat, Shangla, Malakand, Buner, Bajaur, Upper and Lower Kohistan, Kolai-Palas and Torghar.

Similar weather is expected in Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Mardan, Swabi, Mohmand, Khyber, Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Kohat, Karak, Hangu, Kurram, Orakzai and Bannu.

The Met Office also predicts thunderstorms and rain, with isolated heavy falls, in Dera Ismail Khan, Tank and the Waziristan districts.

During the past 24 hours, the highest rainfall was recorded in Kakul (59 mm), followed by Bajaur (29 mm), Malam Jabba (13 mm), Bannu (12 mm), Dir and Kalam (7 mm each), Swat and Dera Ismail Khan (5 mm each) and Peshawar (2 mm).

Maximum temperatures reached 40°C in Dera Ismail Khan, 38°C in Chitral, 36°C in Peshawar, 34°C in Malam Jabba and Bannu, and 27°C in Kalam.

Larkana: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Police Larkana Division, Nisar Aftab, visited the home of the martyred police constable, Saddam Hussain Otho on Sunday, and offered Fatiha for the departed soul.

Remembering the services of the martyred official, the DIG police Larkana said, “We pay tribute to the courage of the martyr for sacrificing his life in the line of duty. We can never forget the sacrifice of the martyred police constable.”

The DIG Larkana police said, “Every possible measure will be taken for the welfare of the martyr’s family. Police martyrs are our pride and honor.” He also showed affection to the martyred constable’s children and family and asked them to contact him in any difficulty.

Larkana: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Larkana Ahmed has taken strict action against illegal deductions from funds of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP).

The ringleader, Roshan alias Abu Zar Laghari, along with seven (07) device holders, has been arrested.

Under the special directives of SSP Larkana Ahmed Chaudhry, QPM, PSP, a vigorous crackdown is underway across the district against elements making illegal deductions from the aid money meant for deserving beneficiaries under the BISP. In this regard, Larkana Police conducted successful operations within the jurisdictions of Dari Police Station, Dokri Police Station, and Arija Police Station, and arrested (07) accused: Roshan alias Abu Zar Laghari, Sohail Mirani, Naeem Bhangar, Aamir Mustafa Abro, Ameer Ali Abbasi, Shams Inar, and Riaz Laghari.

Devices, mobile phones, and identity cards were recovered from the accused, and separate cases have been registered against them at the respective police stations under sections 420 and 379.

According to preliminary investigations, the accused were found guilty of fraud and criminal breach of trust for making illegal deductions from the aid money received by deserving women under BISP. Further investigation against them is ongoing.

SSP Larkana has made it clear that illegal deductions from the aid money of deserving BISP women will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Legal action against elements exploiting public rights will continue without discrimination, and they will be awarded exemplary punishment in accordance with the law.
