Faisalabad: The police have arrested a man on charge of brutally attacking his wife with an axe in the area of Muridwala police station.

Police spokesman said that accused Muhammad Boota allegedly assaulted his wife, Rani, with an axe and inflicted injuries on her. The attack was triggered after the woman reportedly asked her husband not to bring his friends to the house. Over this issue, the man became enraged and struck her with the axe.

After receiving complaint, Station House Officer (SHO) Muridwala police station Qamar-uz-Zaman led a police team and arrested the accused while further investigation was under progress, spokesman added.

Sargodha: Commissioner Hafiz Shoukat Ali, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Sargodha Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry, conducted a detailed inspection of the ongoing city beautification project at various locations across the city on Monday.

According to the spokesperson for the Commissioner’s office here, the officials from the relevant departments were also present during the visit.

The commissioner reviewed progress on beautification initiatives, including road landscaping, green belts, parks, medians, plantation drives, street lighting, wall paintings, signage, cleanliness measures, and other civic development works.

He directed the concerned authorities to maintain high-quality standards and ensure the projects are completed within the stipulated timeline.

Chiniot: Prominent Islamic scholar Professor Dr. Muhammad Akram, Director General of the Sharia Academy at the International Islamic University Islamabad on Monday called for reviving the teachings of Sufi saints to address growing spiritual and social challenges, saying modern society is grappling with anxiety, intolerance and moral decline despite material advancement.

Addressing an extended sermon organized by Jamia Muhammadi Sharif in Chiniot on the theme *’Purification, Conduct and Contemporary Challenges,’ Dr. Akram said the timeless message of peace, compassion and self-purification preached by the Sufis offers practical guidance for overcoming the crises facing today’s world. He urged scholars and religious institutions to promote values of tolerance, brotherhood and ethical conduct.

The scholar said rapid material progress had failed to provide inner peace, leaving many people vulnerable to spiritual unrest and mental stress. He stressed that strengthening moral character and fostering harmony through Islamic teachings were essential to counter the negative effects of materialism and social polarization.

Presiding over the event, Jamia Muhammadi Sharif President Sahibzada Muhammad Qamar-ul-Haq Ziaei thanked the distinguished guests and participants for attending the gathering. He underscored the importance of such forums in promoting spiritual awareness and encouraging constructive dialogue on contemporary issues.

Peshawar: A young man committed suicide in Tehkal area here after a reported argument with his mother, police said on Monday.

According to Tehkal Police, the incident occurred on Shaheed Abad Chand Mari Road, where the deceased was identified as Faizan, son of Zahiduddin, a resident of Shaheed Abad Tehkal.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary investigations suggest that the youth allegedly shot himself with a pistol shortly after the altercation. Police said that all aspects of the case are being examined to determine the exact circumstances. Police have completed the initial legal formalities and launched a detailed investigation into the incident.

Faisalabad: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Imran Ahmed Malik held an open court at his office to hear public grievances and directed police officers to ensure resolution of complaints without delay for providing prompt and effective justice to the citizens.

According to police spokesman, the police from different parts of the district attended the open court and submitted applications highlighting various policing and public service issues directly before the SSP Operations.

After listening to the complainants, SSP Imran Ahmed Malik issued instructions to the relevant police officers to address each complaint within the stipulated timeframe and ensure that all cases were dealt with strictly in accordance with the law.

He said that provision of prompt and effective justice to the public is the foremost priority of Faisalabad police and every complaint would be examined on merit and resolved without unnecessary delay.

SSP Operations said that purpose of the open court was to provide direct access to senior police officers so that people could present their grievances without intermediaries and receive timely redress of their issues.

He made it clear that any injustice to citizens would not be tolerated under any circumstances. Any negligence in handling public complaints would invite strict action.

Faisalabad police were taking all possible measures to resolve issues faced by the public and improve service delivery through greater accountability, transparency and direct engagement with citizens, he added.

Malakand: Rescue 1122 Malakand responded to 89 emergencies during the week from July 6 to July 12, providing rescue services to 80 people across the district.

According to the weekly performance report, the emergencies included 69 medical cases, eight road traffic accidents, two fire incidents, three shooting and violence cases, and seven recovery operations.

The Rescue 1122 control room received 2,674 calls during the reporting period. In addition, the referral ambulance service shifted 40 patients from one hospital to another, including 11 referrals within the district and 29 to hospitals outside the district.

Meanwhile, Rescue 1122 has also deployed water rescue teams and local volunteers at vulnerable locations along the Swat River to ensure public safety amid the ongoing monsoon season.

On the directives of District Emergency Officer Nasir Khan, rescue personnel equipped with essential lifesaving equipment have been stationed at Pul Chowki, Batkhela Headworks, Thana Family Park, Joyland Park, Teri and Totakan.

The teams remain on high alert and are continuously monitoring these sensitive locations to respond swiftly to any emergency.

Rescue 1122 urged the public to exercise caution near rivers and canals, avoid entering the water unnecessarily, and immediately dial 1122 in case of any emergency.
