Police recover abducted girl, arrest 3


Quetta: Police conducted successful operations in two different areas and arrested three accused and recovered a six year old kidnapped girl and a stolen motorcycle from their possession on Thursday.



According to the police, in the first operation, police successfully conducted raid at place and safely recovered a six-year-old girl who was kidnapped two days ago by accused Ponhal and Imdad Ali.



The police said that both alleged accused were arrested during the operation. In the second operation, a Honda CD-70 motorcycle, stolen a day ago, was recovered, while the accused Abdul Aziz was also arrested.



Further investigations were underway in both cases.

Traffic police upholds drive to cover tractor trolleys with sheets for preventing accident


Quetta: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic Police, Muhammad Baloch on Thursday said that the safety campaign launched by the traffic police was showing positive results, due to the awareness campaign and implementation of the traffic law, many tractor owners in the city have started covering their trolleys with tarpaulin.



He said that the aim of this measure was to prevent sand, gravel, soil, bricks and other construction materials from falling on the roads during travel, prevent traffic accidents and reduce environmental pollution.



SSP Traffic said that using tarpaulin on trolleys would reduce the incidence of construction materials scattering on the roads and traffic accidents, as well as improve traffic flow which would help ensure the safety of motorcyclists, pedestrians and citizens from possible accidents.



He urged tractor and truck owners to follow traffic rules and safety instructions and cover their trolleys with tarpaulins, with the cooperation of citizens and transporters, not only the rate of traffic accidents could be reduced.



The official said that it was our responsibility to play our important role in achieving the goal of making Quetta a clean and pollution-free city.

Quetta, Turbat to be connected with major cities by launching domestic flights: Governor


Quetta: Governor Balochistan, Jaffar Khan Mandokhel on Thursday said that they would connect Quetta and Turbat with all the major cities of Pakistan through domestic flights inauguration and God willing, very soon they would start air flights for the people from Zhob and Panjgur.



Governor Mandokhel said that today was a proud moment for Pakistan, especially Balochistan to restore air connectivity, it was an honor for them that after starting Quetta-Jeddah and Quetta-Zaidan flights in a short period of about two years, they would not inaugurate the first domestic flight of South Airline, and want a future where every small and big city of Pakistan become accessible to the people of Balochistan.



He expressed these views while addressing the participants of the inauguration ceremony of South Airline Limited’s Quetta-Turbat first domestic flight.



Provincial Education Minister, Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani, Member Provincial Assembly Rehmat Saleh Baloch, Brigadier Amir Abrar of South Airlines Limited, Chief Executive Officer of BRSP Dr. Tahir Rashid, Principal Secretary to Governor Balochistan Abdul Nasir Dotani, GM Balochistan SOS Group of Companies Abdul Sattar Achakzai and Manager of Quetta International Airport Khalid Khan Kakar were also present on the occasion.



Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of South Airlines’ first domestic flight from Quetta, Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhel said that it was a proud and historic moment for Pakistan and Balochistan, such a large number of passengers in the first flight from Quetta to Turbat was the guarantee of the success of South Airlines Limited.



He urged the Civil Aviation Authority and South Airlines to immediately start flights from the historic city of Zhob to Dera Ismail Khan, Islamabad and Multan, and from Panjgur to Karachi and Quetta.



Provincial Education Minister Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani, while addressing the participants of the inauguration ceremony of the first domestic flight of South Airline said that for the past several years, the people of Balochistan had been facing difficulties in reaching other major cities of Pakistan by air and today South Airline Limited has won the hearts of the people of Balochistan by filling the acute shortage here.



She said that today, South Airline has launched its first domestic flight by connecting Quetta and Turbat with all major cities of Pakistan.



Member Provincial Assembly, Rehmat Saleh Baloch said that now a new series of air connections has started in Balochistan which was desperately needed, the availability of safe and fast air travel facilities would help people save their precious time, energy and accidents.



Demanding the start of domestic flights from Panjgur, Rehmat Saleh Baloch said that the provision of air travel facilities has created many conveniences, the special help and support of the Governor of Balochistan was provided in the construction of national highways and provision of air travel facilities in Panjgur, Turbat and Gwadar etc., for which they thanked the people of the entire region.



Earlier, Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhel formally inaugurated the first flight of South Airline Limited from Quetta and its office.

Role of students essential for eradication of corruption; DG NAB


Quetta: In light of Chairman National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB’s) vision and as part of the anti-corruption awareness initiative, the NAB (Balochistan) hosted a visit of students and faculty members from Govt Girls Postgraduate College Quetta Cantt on Thursday.



The delegation comprising of students from the different Departments was led by Ms. Bibi Nusrat, Lecturer of the College.



The delegation was warmly welcomed by Mr. Niaz Hassan, Director General, NAB (Balochistan) who underscored the significance of such engagements in fostering transparency and practical knowledge.



During the visit, the delegation toured various wings of the NAB office, gaining an in depth understanding of its operational framework, including complaint processing, inquiry procedures and prosecution mechanism.



Farhan Yousaf Khan, Deputy Director, delivered an informative lecture titled ‘Functions of NAB and role of students in eradication of corruption’ and emphasized about how students, as future leaders, could contribute to combating corruption through ethical practices and vigilance.



The Director General, NAB Balochistan Mr. Niaz Hassan, Addl Director NAB Mr. Ehtisham ul Haq engaged with the students, reiterated the Chairman NAB’s vision to eradicate corruption and focus on preventive measures.



The Director General NAB (B) elaborated on NAB’s three pronged strategy Awareness, Prevention and Enforcement and highlighted critical sections of National Accountability Ordinance (NAO) 1999.



He stressed on the importance of Character-Building values, urging students to champion integrity within their community, ultimately leading to a society intolerant to corruption.



He also interacted with the students and faculty members and patently addressed the queries raised by them.



The visit concluded with Ms. Bibi Nusrat, Lecturer, receiving a commemorative shield on behalf of the delegation, followed by mutual expression of gratitude.



Both, NAB officials and visiting delegation lauded the initiative as a meaningful step towards building a corruption free Pakistan.

Aleem visits Jalalpur Pirwala section of Motorway, directs speedy completion of projects


Islamabad: Federal Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan on Thursday paid a comprehensive visit to the Jalalpur Pirwala section of the M-5 Motorway to inspect the progress of various ongoing development projects.



During the visit, the minister issued strict directives to expedite the pace of work. He said all ongoing development projects on the motorway must be completed at the earliest without any further delay and ensure the provision of world-class facilities to commuters, said to a press release.



Secretary Communications and Chairman National Highway Authority (NHA), accompanied the minister during the visit.



Inspecting different project sites, Abdul Aleem Khan instructed the officials to accelerate the pace of work and ensure that all ongoing development projects were completed without delay.



As part of the visit, he also inspected the motorway’s service and rest areas, where he reviewed the newly constructed restrooms, kitchens and overall cleanliness standards.



Expressing his resolve to uplift commuter services, the Minister stated that passengers travelling on the motorway deserve the highest quality of service. He said the rest areas must provide passengers with top-tier, world-class amenities.



He also took notice of the under-construction mosque at a service area and instructed the authorities to complete the project on a priority basis.



Stressing that public health and convenience remained the government’s top priority, Abdul Aleem Khan said no compromise would be made on the quality of food items available at motorway service areas.



He further directed the authorities to establish a robust monitoring mechanism to ensure the continuous maintenance of high standards in motorway services and food quality.

KP police’s sacrifices a pride for nation: CM


Peshawar: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Thursday strongly condemned the terrorist attacks targeting police personnel in Lower Dir and Bannu, paying tribute to the martyred officers and describing the sacrifices of the KP Police as a source of national pride.



In a statement he expressed profound grief over the loss of police personnel and said the sacrifices made by the force in the fight against terrorism were unforgettable and highly valued by the entire nation. He stated that KP police continue to make immense sacrifices to maintain peace and protect the lives and property of citizens.



He added that their dedication and bravery would always be remembered, and their mission would continue until terrorism was completely eradicated.



The Chief Minister directed the relevant authorities to ensure that all injured police personnel received immediate and the best possible medical treatment, stressing that every necessary measure should be taken for their speedy recovery.



He also instructed officials to provide every possible support and facility to the families of the martyred cops, reaffirming that the provincial government would stand by them and continue taking steps for their welfare.



Reiterating the government’s resolve, Muhammad Sohail Afridi said the fight against terrorism would continue with full determination until the menace was completely eliminated. He added that cowardly terrorist attacks would never weaken the resolve of the government, the police force and our people.
