Rawalpindi: Sadiqabad Police have rescued a two-and-a-half-year-old boy who was kidnapped two days ago and arrested the alleged abductor in a swift operation, police spokesperson said on Monday.
Following the incident, City Police Officer (CPO) Hasan Mushtaq Sukhera directed officers to ensure the child’s immediate recovery and the arrest of the suspect.
The accused allegedly took the child to Islamabad after the kidnapping. Police traced and apprehended the suspect using CCTV footage, Safe City surveillance cameras and human intelligence.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SP) Rawal Bidar Bakht and Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) New Town formally handed over the rescued child to his family at Sadiqabad Police Station.
Police said an investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the kidnapping. The suspect will be produced before the court with solid evidence.
Residents of Sadiqabad and the child’s family expressed gratitude to Punjab Police and Rawalpindi Police for the safe recovery of the child.
