Dg khan: Commissioner Dera Ghazi Khan Division Ashfaq Ahmed Chaudhry directed DG NADRA South Punjab Naz Shoaib to adopt conclusive measures for expanding NADRA services across the division.

It was said in a meeting arranged in his office where Additional Commissioner (Coordination) Syed Naveed Alam, Assistant Commissioner Saifullah Javed and other senior officials were present.

The participants held a detailed discussion on various matters related to making NADRA services more efficient and citizen-friendly in the division. They reviewed proposals for establishing new NADRA offices, identifying suitable locations for them, extending the reach of NADRA’s Mobile Registration Vans to remote and underdeveloped areas, facilitating the issuance of identity documents, and expanding the scope of public services provided by the authority.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner said Punjab government was taking practical steps to provide basic public services at people’s doorsteps. He stressed that extending NADRA services to remote areas was essential to ensure citizens did not face unnecessary difficulties in obtaining Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs), B-Forms and other essential documents.

DG NADRA briefed the Commissioner on the organisation’s ongoing projects, future strategy and initiatives aimed at improving public service delivery.

She reaffirmed NADRA’s commitment to making its services more efficient, faster and more accessible throughout the division.

Officials also exchanged views on administrative matters and proposed measures to further improve public facilitation. The meeting agreed to strengthen coordination and mutual cooperation to further expand NADRA’s services and ensure maximum convenience for citizens.

Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Human Resource Management Department has issued a notification announcing the appointments and adjustments of dozens of women professors and principals from the college cadre following their promotion from Grade 20 to Grade 21.

According to the notification, issued with the approval of the Chief Secretary on the recommendations of the Higher Education Department and the relevant promotion board, the promoted officers have been posted as principals and professors in Government Girls Degree Colleges (GGDCs) and Government Girls Postgraduate Colleges (GGPGCs) across the province.

Among the key appointments, Saima Khaliq has been posted as Principal of GGDC No. 1 Charsadda, Nighat Afza as Principal of GGPGC Mardan, Dr Bakht Shahida Gillani as Principal of GGPGC Dargai, Malakand, and Nadia Ashraf as Principal of GGPGC Kohat.

Similarly, Salma Ghani has been appointed Principal of GGDC Timergara, Dr Nighat Shaheen as Principal of GGPGC Haripur, Bushra Fatima as Principal of GGPGC Mandian Abbottabad, and Shabnam Tabinda as Principal of GGDC No. 1 Mansehra.

The notification further names Ghazala Kiran Awan as Principal of GGPGC No. 1 Abbottabad, Seema Gul as Principal of GGDC No. 1 Hayatabad, Peshawar, Rani Gul as Principal of GGDC Nowshera, Shaheen Begum as Principal of Government Frontier College (Women), Peshawar, and Rehana Bibi as Principal of GGPGC Saidu Sharif, Swat.

In addition, the department issued adjustment orders for Grade 19 and Grade 20 women faculty members. Under these orders, Shahana Sameen has been posted as Professor at GGDC Tajo Bibi Charsadda, Farhat Jabeen as Principal of GGDC Sheikh Malton Mardan, Shazia Bangash as Professor at GGDC KDA Kohat, and Farah Saeed as Professor at GGDC Chatti Dhery No. 2 Mansehra.

Rahmania Begum has been adjusted as Professor at GGDC No. 1 Hayatabad, Peshawar, Syeda Mubeena Qadri as Associate Professor at GGDC Timergara, Huma Iqbal as Professor at GGPGC Mandian Abbottabad, and Nadia Nisar has been posted against a vacant position at GGDC Umarzai, Charsadda.

Rawalpindi: President, Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), Usman Shaukat on Friday held a meeting with Pakistan’s Trade and Investment Counsellor in New York, Adnan Mehmood Awan, to dig out fresh avenues for expanding bilateral trade and attracting foreign direct investment (FDI).

The high-level meeting focused on promoting trade facilitation, expanding business-to-business (B2B) collaboration, and exploring untapped markets to increase trade flows between Pakistan and the United States.

During the discussions, the RCCI President highlighted the immense potential of Pakistani enterprises, noting that local industries were fully equipped to meet international standards if provided with direct market access. He observed that strengthening commercial ties with the US remained a cornerstone for boosting national exports, adding that both sides need to work closely to simplify trade procedures.

According to the chamber’s spokesman, Usman Shaukat underlined the need for sustained interaction between the private sectors of both countries, suggesting that regular exchange of trade delegations would help identify new economic horizons.

He lauded the proactive role played by the Pakistani Consulate General in New York in facilitating domestic exporters and organizing promotional activities in the US market. The Counsellor maintained that the consulate was committed to providing maximum assistance to Pakistani business communities, assuring that all efforts would be made to connect local exporters with major American buyers.

He underscored that establishing robust business linkages and streamlining regulatory frameworks would play a pivotal role in driving United States investment into Pakistan’s key industrial sectors.

Hyderabad: The Chairman of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Hyderabad, Faqeer Muhammad Lakho, convened an important meeting with all board officers after assuming charge of his office.

During the meeting, he directed them to ensure the timely declaration of the SSC Part I and II and HSC Part I and II Annual Examination 2026 results.

He said there should be no delay, negligence or unnecessary excuses in the declaration of results, as students’ academic future depends directly on their timely announcement.

According to a handout issued on Friday, addressing the meeting, the chairman stressed that the examination results must be announced within the stipulated time frame in accordance with the instructions of the higher authorities.

Faqeer Muhammad Lakho directed the officers to perform their responsibilities with honesty, dedication and professionalism and to complete all stages of result preparation and declaration according to the prescribed schedule.

The officers attending the meeting assured him of their full cooperation in carrying out this important responsibility. They also pledged to work collectively to further improve the performance of BISE Hyderabad while safeguarding the interests of students through efficient and timely completion of all assigned tasks.

Abbottabad: The district administration has constituted a committee to demarcate the natural drainage channel in Mirpur and identify encroachments after inspections revealed that illegal constructions were obstructing the watercourse, causing urban flooding during heavy rains.

Acting on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad, Sarmad Saleem Akram, Additional Assistant Commissioner, Kamran Ali Shah visited Mirpur to inspect drainage, encroachments, drinking water supply, and sanitation issues following complaints from local residents.

During the visit, the assistant commissioner met local elders, members of the Mirpur Action Committee, and residents to discuss civic problems and inspected the natural drain extending from the Mirpur hills to Kala Pul.

Officials found that significant portions of the drain had been encroached upon, forcing rainwater to flow through residential streets instead of its natural course. The obstruction has led to water accumulation and urban flooding around the Karakoram Highway (KKH), Ayub Teaching Hospital (ATH), and Job Bridge during monsoon rains.

To address the issue, the district administration formed a committee to demarcate the drain, identify illegal encroachments, and prepare an official encroachment map. The committee has been directed to submit its report within 10 days.

The inspection also highlighted the deteriorating condition of the tube well roof at Mirpur Chashma, damaged water supply lines, weak protective walls, and delays in solid waste collection. The relevant departments were instructed to take immediate corrective measures.

Issues related to the tube well, water supply network, and retaining walls have been referred to the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department, while sanitation-related matters have been forwarded to the concerned authorities for prompt action.

The district administration reaffirmed its commitment to restoring natural waterways, eliminating encroachments, improving drainage infrastructure, ensuring the supply of clean drinking water, and resolving public issues on a priority basis.

Peshawar: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Friday reaffirmed his support for the provincial government on all matters relating to the province’s rights and interests, saying political consensus on provincial issues would be built before taking up the matters with the federal government.

Addressing a grand jirga convened by the provincial government at the Chief Minister’s House against the federal government’s tax imposition in the erstwhile FATA and PATA, the Governor said all political stakeholders must remain united to safeguard the constitutional, financial and economic rights of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The jirga was attended by Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, leaders of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Awami National Party (ANP), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Pakistan Muslim League (PML), Jamaat-e-Islami, and representatives of the business community.

Governor Kundi welcomed the holding of the all-parties gathering on the tax issue and thanked the provincial government for bringing together political parties on a common platform.

He said politics should not overshadow the province’s larger interests, adding that unity and a joint strategy were essential for securing KP’s legitimate rights.

Referring to previous instances of political consensus on issues such as CNG and wheat, the Governor said the government and opposition were once again on the same page to protect the province’s constitutional, financial and economic interests.

He said representatives of all political parties had adopted a unanimous stance on provincial issues and would present a strong case before the federation.

Governor Kundi also said the federal government’s commitment to provide Rs100 billion annually for the development of the erstwhile FATA had yet to be fulfilled.

He further demanded that traders from the merged tribal districts be provided the same facilities and business incentives as those available to traders in Lahore and other major cities.
