Rawalpindi: On the special directions of City Police Officer (CPO) Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Malik Tariq Mehboob visited different areas of the city to review security arrangements, police picketing, and mobile patrolling duties.

According to police spokesperson, the SSP Operations inspected security measures at various locations and checked the performance of police personnel deployed for security duties.

During the visit, SSP Operations also reviewed security arrangements at churches and issued necessary instructions to officers and personnel on duty. He directed that senior officers should continue inspecting and briefing the officials deployed at security points.

The entry into churches was being ensured only after complete body searches, while citizens visiting for worship were being treated with courtesy and respect.

SSP Malik Tariq Mehboob said all available resources were being utilised to protect the rights of minorities and maintain law and order in the city.

Rawalpindi Police reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens and ensuring a peaceful environment through effective security measures.

Dera ismail khan: The district administration, under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) Iftikhar Ahmad, carried out an anti-water theft operation along the Chashma Right Bank Canal (CRBC) from Pusha Head to Distributary No. 05 in collaboration with officials of the CRBC Irrigation Department and WAPDA.

During the operation, seven illegal water connections were disconnected, while a suction pump installed for unauthorized water extraction was removed on the spot.

The team also foiled an attempt to create an illegal breach in the CRBC near Distributary No. 05. In addition, an unauthorized water channel dug by local individuals was closed and the canal was restored to its original condition to prevent illegal diversion of water.

Officials said details of all violators had been compiled and legal proceedings had been initiated against them under the relevant laws.

The administration reiterated its commitment to protecting public water resources and warned that strict action would continue against anyone found involved in water theft or illegal interference with the irrigation system.

Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has accelerated work on a series of development projects to modernise and strengthen the water supply system across the cantonment, with a focus on improving storage capacity, water pressure and the quality of drinking water.

Talking to reporter, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rawalpindi Cantonment Board Amir Rashid said a modern underground water reservoir with a storage capacity of 200,000 gallons at Valley Road, Westridge, was nearing completion.

He said the facility, being constructed in accordance with modern engineering standards, would significantly enhance water storage capacity, improve supply pressure and ensure a more reliable water supply to adjoining residential areas, including Race Course, Valley Road, Westridge 1, 2 and 3, and Peshawar Road Lanes 1 to 7.

The CEO said new polyethene (PE) and galvanised iron (GI) pipelines ranging from 90mm to 160mm in diameter were being laid in several localities, including Ashiana Chowk Allahabad, Gawalmandi, Misrial Road, Shale Valley, Kamalabad, Naseerabad, Dhamial Road, Chakra Housing Society, Peshawar Road, Officer Colony, Afshan Colony, Azizabad, Madina Colony and Rawal Town.

He said work on some schemes had been completed, while others had entered their final stages.

Amir Rashid said the Adra Filtration Plant was also being upgraded and rehabilitated to improve the quality and safety of drinking water supplied to consumers.

Referring to the Peshawar Road (Charing Cross) Underpass project, he said the main water supply lines had been safely relocated and replaced with new pipelines measuring 200mm, 160mm, 110mm and 90mm in diameter to ensure uninterrupted water supply during construction.

He said engineering and water supply teams had continuously monitored the work to avoid disruption to public services.

The CEO said the board was also carrying out a comprehensive review of the water distribution network to reduce water losses, improve pipeline efficiency and further strengthen the supply system.

He said engineering, water supply and field teams were conducting daily inspections, while a dedicated monitoring mechanism had been put in place to ensure quality standards and timely completion of all ongoing projects.

Amir Rashid said the provision of safe drinking water and other essential municipal services remained the board’s foremost priority, adding that all available resources were being utilised to complete the projects on schedule.

He said the development drive would continue to improve civic infrastructure and public services across the cantonment.

Bahawalpur: A 12-year-old boy was killed on Sunday after being hit by a speeding train near the Nawaz Colony area on Multan Road.

According to Rescue 1122, the tragic incident occurred near the Small Industry area when the victim identified as Qaiser, 12, son of Nadeem, a resident of Nawaz Colony, was struck while crossing the railway tracks.

The victim’s family told rescue personnel that the child had left the house to buy milk from a nearby shop when the passing train hit him.

Rescue officials stated that the boy’s relatives had already shifted the body back to their residence before the emergency teams arrived at the scene.

The family declined to shift the body to the hospital for a post-mortem examination and retained custody of the deceased.

Kohat: One person was killed and another sustained injuries in a violent clash in the Oil-Rich Shakurdra area of Kohat, where a dispute reportedly linked to money escalated into an armed confrontation, police said on Sunday.

According to reporter correspondent, the incident triggered chaos in the locality, resulting in several vehicles catching fire. Initial estimates suggest that the damage caused by the blaze amounts to millions of rupees.

Police officials confirmed that an FIR has been registered, stating that longstanding enmity between the parties was the primary cause of the confrontation. Rescue teams and firefighters reached the site promptly and brought the situation under control.

The injured individual was shifted to a nearby hospital, where he is receiving medical treatment. Police have launched an investigation and initiated efforts to apprehend those involved.
