Sargodha: The Punjab Council of the Arts (PUCAR) Sargodha division invited applications for various art classes to polish creative skills of youth and art enthusiasts, with the registration deadline set for August 5, 2026.

According to a press release issued by the Arts Council on Wednesday, the council is offering specialized training in painting, calligraphy, singing, and harmonium. The three-month short courses will be conducted under the supervision of expert instructors to provide practical and quality training to students to refine their artistic abilities.

A council spokesperson stated that the fee for each course was fixed at Rs 4,000, while classes will be held three days a week. The spokesperson added that the primary objective of these courses is to promote positive and creative activities among the younger generation and ensure the promotion of fine arts in the region. The Punjab Council of the Arts urged citizens, especially the youth, to benefit from this opportunity by enrolling in their preferred courses to enhance their creative potential. Sargodha: Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry on Wednesday visited various areas of the city following rainfall and reviewed ongoing drainage and cleanliness operations.

According to the spokesperson for the DC office here, Managing Director Suthra Punjab Authority Rana Muhammad Abubakar and Managing Director WASA Abubakar Imran accompanied the Deputy Commissioner during the visit.

The DC inspected the cleanliness situation in different areas and received briefings from the concerned officers regarding the ongoing drainage and sanitation operations.

He directed all relevant departments to work in close coordination and make the cleanliness operation more effective so that roads, streets, neighbourhoods and public places could be cleared at the earliest after the rainfall.

Abbottabad: Fifteen residential houses affected by the recent heavy rains have been declared unsafe after developing severe structural damage, prompting the district administration to evacuate residents to safer locations.

According to the district administration, Additional Assistant Commissioner-II Muhammad Usama, acting on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad, Sarmad Saleem Akram, visited the affected area and carried out a detailed inspection of the damaged houses.

The inspection revealed that continuous rainfall had softened the ground, destabilizing the hillside and causing deep cracks in several houses. Some buildings were found to have tilted to a dangerous extent, posing a serious risk to occupants.

Following the assessment, the affected houses were declared highly dangerous, and all residents were immediately shifted to safe locations. The displaced families are currently staying with relatives and members of the local community.

The district administration described the situation as alarming and recommended the immediate provision of tents and other emergency relief measures for the affected families. It also stressed the need for further assistance and precautionary steps to prevent any potential loss of life or property.

Sargodha: Police through prompt action successfully recovered a seven-year-old mentally challenged girl within hours of her going missing from the City Police jurisdiction on Wednesday.

According to police sources, upon receiving a complaint regarding the missing girl, identified as Saweera, the concerned Station House Officer (SHO) immediately constituted a special team to trace her.

After coordinated efforts, the police team tracked down and safely recovered the girl within a few hours. She was later reunited with her family after necessary procedures.

Sargodha: Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry on Wednesday chaired a meeting to review progress on the public welfare initiatives, ongoing development projects and various administrative matters in the district.

According to the spokesperson for the DC office here, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Rana Muhammad Abu Bakar, Assistant Commissioners of all tehsils, Executive Engineer Buildings, District Sports Officer, PMU team, Deputy Director Walled City and other relevant officers attended the meeting.

The meeting reviewed progress on the construction of PERA offices, the PDMA warehouse, Shahpur Sports Complex, Bhera Archaeological Project and other development and administrative targets set by the Chief Minister Punjab.

He ordered strict monitoring to ensure the availability of flour, roti and bread at officially fixed prices.
