Police responsible for public, property protection: SDPO Ali


Quetta: Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Gandawah, Zulfiqar Ali Pandrani on Friday said that the primary responsibility of the police was to protect the lives and property of the public, ensure the rule of law and serve the citizens without any discrimination.



While addressing police officers here after assuming charge, he directed all the police officers to make every effort for eliminating crime, making the patrolling system effective and treat the public with courtesy.



SDPO Zulfiqar Ali Pandrani said law violators would be dealt with an iron hand, adding that all available resources to be utilized to establish law and order situation in the area and ensure a safe environment to the citizens.



Meanwhile, the public and social circles of Gandawah have welcomed the appointment of Zulfiqar Ali Pandrani as SDPO.

Sports events to be organized in Sindh from July to June 2027


Karachi: The Sindh government has decided to organize major sports and youth events across 30 districts of the province from July 2026 to June 2027.



The Sindh Minister for Sports has approved the annual sports calendar. Events will include the 19th Sindh Games in Sukkur, Sindh Punk Games, Thar Jeep Rally, Sindh Beach Games, Lyari Sports Festival, and an E-Sports Championship among many others.



An important meeting chaired by Sindh Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mahar, was held regarding the annual sports calendar. Approval was given for mega sports, youth, traditional, and special events across all 30 districts from July 2026 to June 2027.



The meeting was attended by Sports Secretary Munawar Ali Mahesar, Additional Secretary Asad Ishaq, Chief Engineer Muhammad Aslam Mahar, Dupty Director Syed Habibullah and other officials. A detailed briefing was presented on the year-long sports programs.



The Minister Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Khan Mahar approved the 19th Sindh Games to be held in Sukkur in November this year, while the Sindh Special Games and Sindh Punk Games will take place in Shaheed Benazirabad in October. Similarly, the second E-Sports Championship will be held in Karachi in November, and winter coaching camps will be set up in all 30 districts.



He also approved the Sindh Beach Games in December this year and the Thar Jeep Rally 2027 in Tharparkar in February 2027. The Thar Festival will be held in Mithi in January 2027, along with the River Sports Festival in Hyderabad. In April, the Lyari Sports Festival will take place, followed by the Sindh Punk Football Championship in May, and in June 2027, summer camps across Sindh will conclude with a donkey cart race in Karachi.



It was decided that during the Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (RA) in Bhit Shah, an All-Pakistan Malakhra competition will be held in the last week of July, while a mega Malakhra (Season Two) will be organized in Sachal Goth, Karachi, in October. In November, a bull cart race will be held in Kohistan, district Thatta, and an Iqbal Day Sports Festival in Hyderabad.



Minister Mahar announced that during the Urs of Sakhi Jam Datar in Shaheed Benazirabad, traditional games, Malakhra and a Kabaddi tournament will be organized. In February 2027, during the Urs of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar (RA), an All-Pakistan Malakhra will also be held, along with a divisional sports festival in Shaheed Benazirabad. Additionally, a chess championship will be organized in Hyderabad.



The meeting also decided to expand sports activities to include transgender persons, differently-abled individuals, universities, schools, colleges, and even prisons.



Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mahar stated that competitions in traditional games such as Malakhra, Kodi, Kabaddi, Shooting Ball and Street Children Games (football, cricket, gilli danda, rope skipping) will also be held. He added that associations of hockey, netball, badminton, throwball, and other sports will be provided financial support for the promotion of sports.



He emphasized that the purpose of these activities is to promote sports across Sindh, bring forward young talent, encourage healthy and positive activities in every district, and support women, differently-abled individuals and traditional games.

Security Forces kill 4 terrorists in Mastung


Quetta: Security forces killed four terrorists belonging to Fitna al Hindustan, while several others were injured, during Operation Al-Azm in the Khad Kocha area of Mastung district as part of an anti-terror operation against terrorist groups in Balochistan.



Security sources said that a significant cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the site. Motorcycles used by the terrorists were also seized during the raid, they added.



The security forces also arrested several individuals suspected of facilitating terrorist activities, the sources said.



Search and clearance operations remain underway in the area, while security forces continue to maintain a strong presence and close surveillance to prevent further terrorist activity.



Security sources said that intelligence-based operations have been intensified in the Khad Kocha area following recent terrorist attacks.



They said that such operations will continue until violence is eliminated and peace and stability are restored in the region.

CM invites Shandong High-Speed Group to invest in Sindh’s infrastructure projects


Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah on Friday invited China’s Shandong High-Speed Group Company Limited to explore investment opportunities in Sindh’s infrastructure and public-private partnership (PPP) projects, reaffirming the provincial government’s commitment to facilitating foreign investors.



The invitation was extended during a meeting at the Chief Minister House with a delegation led by Shandong High-Speed Group Chairman Zhu Xiang. The delegation included Wang Zhenrong, Director of Shandong High-Speed Group, while the Tabani Group was represented by Chairman Hamza Tabani, Executive Director Hatim Tabani, Directors Abdul Wasi Tabani and Arham Tabani, and General Manager Majid Naseer.



The meeting was also attended by the Chief Minister’s Special Assistant for Investment and PPP Qasim Naveed, Principal Secretary Agha Wasif, and Chairman CMIT Bilal Memon.



Welcoming the Chinese delegation and the Tabani Group, the Chief Minister highlighted Sindh’s vast investment potential and invited Shandong High-Speed Group to partner with the provincial government in various development initiatives under the PPP model.



He said investment opportunities existed in roads, flyovers, water treatment facilities, desalination plants, transport infrastructure and urban development projects, adding that the Sindh government was providing all possible support and facilitation to foreign investors.



The delegation was briefed on ongoing infrastructure, transport and urban development projects across the province. Representatives of Shandong High-Speed Group expressed keen interest in participating in Sindh’s development agenda, while both the Chinese company and the Tabani Group conveyed their desire to work with the Sindh government on joint projects.



Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that Pakistan-China friendship was a shining example of mutual trust and shared prosperity, adding that increased foreign investment would create new employment opportunities and contribute to economic growth in Sindh.



Both sides agreed to further explore avenues of cooperation and investment in infrastructure and public welfare projects. The Chinese delegation appreciated Sindh’s investor-friendly policies and expressed its commitment to enhancing future collaboration.

Governor urges to create awareness about family planning


Quetta: Governor Balochistan, Jaffar Khan Mandokhel on Friday urged the concerned authorities to expand the awareness campaign regarding family planning to the district and union council levels and take more steps to control the excessive population growth for transforming the population of Pakistan and Balochistan into a powerful engine of lasting peace, prosperity and economic development.



He expressed these views while addressing the participants of an event organized here at a local hotel to mark World Population Day.



Provincial Minister, Mir Asim Kurd Gellu, Parliamentary Secretary, Prince Agha Umar Ahmadzai, Member Provincial Assembly, Dr. Nawaz Kabzai, Provincial Secretary, Zafar Buledi, HonDP’s Zulfiqar Durrani, former Senator, Roshan Khurshid Brocha, BRSP Chairman, Malik Anwar Saleem Kasi, Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Tahir Rashid and Director Governor Secretariat, Atta-ur-Rehman Khilji were also present on the occasion, along with people from different walks of life.



Addressing the participants, the Governor said that the population of any country was fundamentally linked to the people, their standard of living, employment opportunities and their economic well-being.



He said that Pakistan’s population would reach 260 million by the end of this year, which presented Pakistan with two major challenges, the first was to manage the rapidly growing population, the second and perhaps more important was to transform this large population into a skilled, productive, healthy and skilled workforce.



Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhel said that Pakistan was the country with the youngest population in the entire region, while Balochistan was the youngest province of Pakistan in terms of its population.



He said that this young population represented an extraordinary opportunity, but the future of Pakistan would not depend on how many people, the important point was how much quality education was provided to them, how effectively they equip them with modern skills, how successfully employment opportunities would be created and how confidently they would be empowered to contribute to national development.



He said it was a matter of satisfaction that they have started skill development programs in the public sector universities which would yield positive results.

Woman granted bail in acid attack case


Lahore: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday granted post-arrest bail to a woman accused of allegedly throwing acid on a man.

ATC Judge Malik Abid Hussain announced the decision after hearing arguments from both sides. The court accepted the bail petition of co-accused Kiran Shehzadi, who had sought bail while in jail, and ordered her release upon submission of surety bonds worth Rs100, 000.

According to the prosecution, the complainant, Ahsan, had recently returned from Malaysia and was allegedly intending to marry Kiran Bibi after divorcing his wife, Rimsha. The prosecution said Rimsha and Kiran, who are close friends, jointly planned the attack.

It said that Kiran Bibi threw acid on Ahsan at Rimsha’s instigation, causing severe burns to his face. It further said that the main accused, Rimsha, is currently in police custody on physical remand.

A case has been registered against the two women at Sadar Kasur Police Station.
